BIO

Deborah Goldstein Bio

Deborah Goldstein’s contemporaries describe her as a colorist, an intuitive painter, a symbolic painter, and an action painter. Over the years, her pieces have transformed from horizontal themes of landscape, volume, and time to vertical themes of spirituality, sexuality, and surrealism. Her work reveals subconscious universes and she draws inspiration from the ephemeral quality of nature and fertility.

Ms. Goldstein is an emerging artist, abstract painter and a teaching artist. Since graduating with a BFA from the University of the Arts in 1988, her work has been featured in several group shows in Philadelphia and also commissioned in New York. In 1999, Ms. Goldstein completed a Summer Studio Residency at School of Visuals Arts which was followed by a solo show in Harlem, NY. For the past ten years, Ms. Goldstein has provided private art lessons and mentorship to aspiring young artists in elementary and high school who exhibit a desire to explore art beyond the images they create; on a sophisticated level and with intelligent discourse.

Ms. Goldstein is currently working on a series of paintings that investigate the theme of building, color, surface, and personal identity. She lives in Brooklyn, NY. with her partner and two children.
